Invitation to join the Scientific Writing Online Workshop – 2021

The Association of Veterinary Anaesthetists and Veterinary Anaesthesia and Analgesia are pleased to announce:

Scientific writing: an online workshop

Saturday 10th and Sunday 11th April 2021

Following feedback from AVA members and ACVA list members the programme for the AVA/VAA workshop on scientific writing has now been finalised. While the focus of the workshop is scientific writing and manuscript preparation the first day of the workshop will include lectures on study design, the use of reporting guidelines, data handling and statistical analysis. The second day will begin with a lecture on the basics of scientific writing, and it is aimed specifically at non-native English speakers. Later lectures will describe the process of manuscript submission, the role of the editor and also the process of peer review. The final lecture will describe aspects of open access publication.

The workshop has been designed to address the needs of junior authors; however, everyone is welcome to register and attend lectures which may be of interest to them. This includes nurses, technicians plus residents and clinicians of other disciplines.

The workshop will be available online. All lecture times are scheduled for the afternoon and early evening UK British summer. It is hoped that this will facilitate the attendance of AVA members and other non-members based in other parts of the world.

Preparatory and supplementary reading material will be available shortly along with links to other sources of material and courses.
