This comprehensive one-day course will delve into the safe practice of cannabis medicines. Join us to explore the history, regulatory environment, and pharmacology of cannabis medicines as well as the use of different cannabis-based medical preparations for future use in a wide variety of clinical fields in the UK.
This course will be of interest to pain specialists and all other clinicians who are interested in pain management, pharmacology and regulatory background of cannabis medicines for long term pain and associated symptoms.
This meeting is in association with Integro Medical Clinics Limited who have provided funding support as well as input into the meeting agenda.
During this session, participants will be able to:
- Know the pharmacology of cannabis medicines
- Understand the regulatory framework within which cannabis medicines can be used safely in medical practice
- Understand the practicalities of cannabis medicine and how cannabis medicines can be best used in clinical practice
- Take a look at the future of cannabis medicine in the UK through research and how the development of cannabis-based treatments may be of benefit in other clinical fields
The importance of representation (for example, gender and ethnicity) in medicine, particularly in medical cannabis, is something that The Royal Society of Medicine and Integro Medical Clinics Limited take seriously. Gender balance is something that was considered whilst designing the programme, however, we understand that due to the previous illegality and controversy surrounding medical cannabis, its acceptance into mainstream clinical practice is currently limited. We hope to help in changing this through educational events such as this one. Therefore, we are pleased to have some of the most influential and knowledgeable clinicians and researchers in the field of medical cannabis present at this meeting. Through events such as this, the hope is that more diverse professionals, especially women, within medicine and research feel more confident in exploring the potential that can be found in this field.
